First, let me start by saying how much I've missed blogging and reaching out to you guys over the last month or so. I've tried to squeeze in a post whenever possible, but the devil tried everything he could to keep me off the internet, from computer troubles to the library not allowing me to use computers because I had an out of state id card! But what he meant for harm, God means for good because in addition to bringing you a weekly proverb, I've been instructed to bless you with some psalms too! This time of not doing so much moving, but rather listening - opened my eyes to how much wisdom David was really dropping in this great book. Enjoy! . . . .
Psalms 90:12
Teach us to number our days aright,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
On March 15th I celebrated my 28th birthday. On March 16th I began mourning the countdown to my 30th birthday! Okay . . . mourning is really a strong word, but it hit me like a ton of bricks that my 20’s were rapidly coming to an end.
When I think back over the last 8 years, however, I can’t help but praise God in spite of the worldly part of me that wants to feel like I should be depressed or ashamed that I’m not the youngest person in the room anymore. I’ve accomplished some great things in my life and although I made some foolish mistakes along the way, I now know that they were opportunities to learn and to grow. Trust me, I’ve done some stuff that I am supremely glad to know are behind me, so the twenties can keep all of that!
The Bible says that the length of our days is seventy years, or eighty if we actually have the strength! If these decades continue to fly by the way they have been, that’s really not long enough for any of us to continue living in the foolish mistakes of our past. Let’s face it. Time will not be reversed for any of us no matter how much we fast, pray and cry unto the Lord! *Ahem!* Or should I say, no matter how tight or hip hop our clothes are, how much plastic surgery we receive or how often we just plain lie about it?!
We don’t have time to carry foolishness from decade to decade, but rather let’s focus on what wisdom we can take with us into that next phase of our life. Think about the last 8 – 10 years and evaluate what you did right and what was just plain dumb! Be true to yourself and make sure that whatever circumstances you may be enduring right now are not repeats of your past hiccups. If they are, remember that time is flying. If you begin to number your days, you’ll see that your heart needs to turn towards gaining and using wisdom. You just don’t have time for anything else! And when you’re done with that, reflect on all the good stuff too! Relish in your successes and think about what the next phase of your accomplishments will be!

Why Seek Wisdom?
So, why all of a sudden am I blogging, you might ask? First, I need to finish my book and figured that getting in the habit of writing more would help and second, because I have something to say! I've read some of the most peculiar things on people's blogs and figure why not add my own little random, twisted spin on life to the world wide web!
Seriously speaking, Seek Wisdom, Find Wealth is basically dedicated to folks who realize that they don't know it all! Prosperity should be our goal in all of areas of our life - health, relationships, finances, etc. In order to achieve wealth or abundance, however, we have to admit that there are things out there that we just don't know and acknowledge that knowing them might make our lives just a little better!
We've all met the Mr. or Mrs. KnowItAll who really and truly believes that they are wise because of a school or university they have attended or degrees they have earned. It is true that seeking higher education will provide us with knowledge, but it is important not to confuse knowledge with wisdom. Knowledge is basically having the facts. But wisdom is applying those facts to real life. It means nothing to merely know something without knowing when, how and where to use it.
So my goal is to encourage others to seek widsom in everything that they do. Why do life's lessons have to be so darn hard? When folks who have been there and done that try to help people out, its so sad to hear silly responses like, "I'll just have to learn the hard way." or "I want to make my own mistakes." WHY?!? Why not learn from the mistakes and/or successes of others? It saves so much time, money and heartache. What on earth is so intriguing about failing for yourself? From personal experience, it does make you a little more aggressive about really striving for your goals, but I feel like I could've done without blowing through the thousands of dollars that I lost to learn lessons that my dad had tried to explain to me a long time ago!
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying to just listen to any old person that has an opinion. As we all know opinions are like . . . well, you know how the saying goes, but everyone has one! I believe in seeking wise counsel. Its nothing wrong with checking out a persons reputation and credibility before taking advice in some particular area. The point is to just seek some type of wisdom in order to gain the abundance desired in life. Without the application of wisdom, failure will continue to be a constant companion.
So . . . Seek Wisdom, Find Wealth and Be Blessed!
